As an auxiliary of Lutheran Church–Canada, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League–Canada is committed to serve and support the mission of the church through mission grants, service projects and resources. Mission in word and deed is the focus of all LWML–Canada activities. Four areas of work include Growing in Faith; Putting Faith into Action; Encouraging One Another in Faith; and Working Together in Faith.
LWML–Canada produces resources which include Bible studies, individual and booklet devotions and sketches. Many seminars have been prepared to encourage and strengthen a woman’s walk of faith. Resources may be ordered from our catalogue or downloaded from our website at www.lutheranwomen.ca. The newest Seminar I Can’t, But with God I Can, was written to help us learn how to share God’s gift of compassion with the hurting.
Mission grants and the work of the league are financed through “mite” offerings from members and other supporters. The 2006-2009 Mission Program budget of $401,225 included Mission Grants of $100,000. LWML-Canada has established a Gifts for Growth fund with Lutheran Foundation Canada to encourage financial gifts to assist with present and future work of the league.

The first LWML–Canada mission trip took place in November of 2008 when a small group of women travelled to Nicaragua to lead women in Bible study, teach crafts and songs to the children and spend time encouraging and mentoring sisters in Christ.
Tapestry, a magazine for today’s Christian woman isproduced quarterly and filled with Bible studies, inspirational articles and ideas for service. Get Connected! a quarterly newsletter is aimed at encouraging and equipping leaders.
With the help and blessings of God, planning and administration and the work of many volunteers enable us to carrying out the work of the league. National conventions offer our members opportunity to make decisions about the future of LWML–Canada. We invite you to join us for our Seventh National Convention which will be held July 9-12, 2009 in Ottawa, Ontario under the theme “Shine Like Stars” based on Daniel 12:3 and Philippians 2:15-16a. Along with mission speakers, interest sessions and a Mission Walk, Dr. David Ludwig will speak on `Shine Like Stars – in a Culture of Abuse’.
Although small, the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League–Canada has been blessed in reaching out to our sisters in LCC and in the mission fields – encouraging them in their faith and enabling them to share the Gospel of our Saviour with people around the world.
Respectfully submitted,
